(A) DIVISIONAL HEAD: SR. JOINT COMMISSIONER-I (GANGA)
1. Secretariat work for the Indo-Bangladesh Joint River Commission (JRC) headed by Union Minister of Water Resources.
· Secretariat work of Joint Committee of Experts (JCE) headed by Secretary (WR) for sharing of the available water resource common to India and Bangladesh.
· Standing Committee of JRC headed by Commissioner (Ganga) for dealing with embankments and river training works on the border rivers.
2. Implementation of Treaty on the sharing of Ganga/Ganges waters at Farakka during the lean season signed in 1996.
· Joint Committee headed by Commissioner (Ganga) to oversee the implementation of the Treaty
· Arrangements for Joint observations at Farakka (India) and Hardinge Bridge (Bangladesh) on river Ganga as per provisions of the Treaty.
3. Implementation of recommendations of Task Force-2004.
4. Implementation of State Sector Scheme “Flood Management Programme” for XI Five Year Plan.
5. Coordination of Indo-Bangladesh cooperation programme on flood forecasting.
6. Processing of SFCs/ EFCs/ Cabinet Notes, release of funds and other related matters regarding various State Sector / Central Sector Schemes in the flood sector.
7. Clearance of multipurpose major/medium irrigation project in Ganga, Brahmaputra and Meghna Basins from international (JRC) angle.
(B) DIVISIONAL HEAD: SR. JOINT COMMISSIONER-II (GANGA)
1. Technical Matters; EFC Memorandum and Advisory Committee of Farakka Barrage Project .
2. Flood Sector Scheme namely, ‘Flood Forecasting’ in XI Five Year Plan
3. General Flood situation in the country
4. National Disaster Management Authority Matters
5. National Executive Council
6. National Flood Management Commission(NFMC)
(C) DIVISIONAL HEAD: SR. JOINT COMMISSIONER-III (GANGA)
1. India-Nepal Joint Committee on Water Resources (JCWR) headed by Secretary (WR).
2. Implementation of Mahakali Treaty on the “Integrated Development of the Mahakali River including Sarda Barrage, Tanakpur Barrage and Pancheswar Project”.
3. Matters related to India Nepal joint projects including Pancheswar Multipurpose Project, Sapta Kosi High Dam Multipurpose Project and Sunkosi Storage cum Diversion Scheme, Namure Hydroelectric Project, etc.
4. Matters relating to inundation problems on Indo-Nepal border.
5. Implementation of “Flood Forecasting and Warning System on rivers common to India and Nepal” including matters relating to India Nepal Standing Committee on Flood Forecasting.
6. Matters relating to various joint India-Nepal Committees like Sub Committee on Embankment Construction for planning, design and construction of embankments, Joint Committee on Kosi and Gandak Projects in respect of operation and maintenance of Kosi and Gandak projects, Kosi High Level Committee, Gandak High Level Standing Committee, etc.
7. Establishment matters of Ganga Flood Control Commission.
8. Release of hydrological data of Ganga Basin to various organizations.
9. RTI matters pertaining to Ganga Wing.
10. Implementation of Central Sector Scheme “River Management Activities and Works related to Border Areas for XI Five Year Plan.”
